We've eaten here many times and have always had great food. Typically, we'll order it to go but this evening we decided to dine in. The waitress was awesome, very attentive to our needs and friendly. The food came out fast, but. It too fast...... as we had an appetizer, sushi, then our main. It was spaced out perfectly. My wife and I will definitely be back again.

I must admit I am biased. I am addicted to the Sushi Lunch..... For under $10, you get 6 pieces of California Roll, and 4 large pieces of chef's choice. Including a Salad and clear soup, its a steal. I have eaten here at least once a week for more than 5 years. Through Covid, they shut down, like everyone else. I was afraid they would not reopen. But they did.... And they didn't miss a beat in quick service or taste. Fresh, fresh seafood. Excellent fried rice, yaki soba and calamari. Lunch deals run Tuesday through Saturday 11-3, and offer amazing prices for the portion. You will not be disappointed!

I vary rarely give 5 stars. Ill give this one 4....very stormy night so not too busy. Hot sake takes a long time to come out. Miso soup takes a long time to come out. I imagine this is from morning prep and microwaving. Which means not so fresh (which doesn't really matter in soup and sake lol). I love Sushimi. The escolar was good, and the salmon was good, i think the peppered tuna and the regular tuna were within code but getting on the cusp of old. Beautiful set-up though (see pic) id come back again. Poor girl serving didnt have a lot of help but she worked hard but maxed her out. Thanks Morgan!

Best sushi Ive had while being within Ohio. I am unfortunately too far away from Columbus and Cincinnati. I am currently in a little town in Ohio and needed to be in Portsmouth for a few days so I was happy to know that there was some great reviews on Yamato. When I first walked in I was pleasantly greeted and seated promptly. Its hard to pick a roll right off the bat when they all looked great. I just ordered a common roll just to see how it was prepared and how it tasted. I ordered the Dragon roll... I know I should have got something more signature Yamato but it did not disappoint. Im a sucker for crab rangoon so I ordered that along with a salad. Everything was fine the only thing I have to complain about is this...if your going to offer a "green" salad make it so. When I see green salad I expect anything but iceberg which is so common in Ohio. Green should mean Spring greens not iceberg. Yamato does however make their own dressing which was good. All in all if I was still in Portsmouth this would be a weekly lunch destination.
